Coming up with a New Years resolution can be hard. We all have things we want to change in our lives, but deciding on a reasonable yet challenging goal is tricky. I came up with some ideas of resolutions that can be attainable by anyone and will have huge benefits on your health and happiness in the new year.

  1. Smile more. Smiling at strangers can have a big impact on their day.
  2. Spread kindness. Pay for the person behind you in the drive through. Volunteer. Make a donation to charity. Studies show that people who donate to charities are less depressed and anxious.
  3. Stop judging others. You don’t know what they’ve been through or what they’re going through. Sometimes, all someone needs is a little bit of acceptance. Be the person who can give that to them.
  4. Spend less time on social media. Actually, less screen time in general. Go outside, enjoy the real world. Social media is bad for mental health. Plus, screens all day = headaches.
  5. Drink more water! Download a water tracker app and STAY HYDRATED!
  6. Stop procrastinating. Imagine a life where we got all of our work done in advance and never had to stay up all night stressing over a project due the next day. Tempting..
  7. Be patient. Impatience leads to stress and anxiety.
  8. Stay organized. Just another simple way to decrease stress.
  9. Eat healthier. Instead of trying to stick to a strict diet, focus on eating well-rounded meals and less snacks. You can always work your way toward a stricter diet, but to start out with a mindset that you can only eat certain foods is more likely to result in quicker burnout.
  10. Fix your sleep schedule. Studies have shown that people who wake up earlier are more productive and live better lives. These people also go to bed at a decent time. Figure out what works best for you and stick to it.
